In the early 20 th century,Russian music had an outstanding development.At the time there was a group of very great composers in Russia.Talking about this problem,we naturally think of Rachmaninov,Scriabin,Prokofiev,Shostakovich.In the same period as theirs,one composer was ignored by the public: Nikola Karlovich Medtner,who was also a very influential Russian composer,pianist,and educator.Medtner's life is mainly composed of piano works.Among the many works,his most valuable contribution is his piano lyric narrative sketch genrefairy tales,which adds a new dimension to the romantic epoch of piano sketches.One type,he has never interrupted the creation of this piano music genre.Medtner's piano work OP.51 is a composition composed of six ditty songs.It is also Medtner's last piece of piano works with fairy tales.Through the study of the works OP.51,the author has a better understanding of Medtner's life and his pioneering piano solo genre "Fairy Tales".This article will discuss the four aspects of composer Medtner's life,his music creation,his creation of the musical genre Fairy Tales,and his work OP.51,which will allow more music to be learned.The person who met with this neglected pianist,Meitner,also provided some references for Medtner's study in the future.
