Language originates from cognition,which in turn comes from the interaction between the people and the objective world.Cognitive linguistics believes in the existence of an intermediate link,i.e.cognition,between language and the objective reality.Language is based on cognition,which in turn based on the objective reality.This relationship can be summarized as language-cognition-reality(“Three Levels”),which is the basic viewpoint of cognitive linguistics.From this viewpoint,language can be seen as a window and a reference point system through which the cognitive results of the conceptualization of the objective reality are observed.Introduction.This part describes the reason for writing this paper,the research status,the object of study,purposes and methods,and the paper structure.Chapter One.Cognitive Linguistic and Cognitive Translation Research: This Chapter focuses on the fundamental ideas and theories of cognitive linguistics and cognitive translation studies,discusses the linguistic and translation phenomena from a cognitive perspective,redefines translating strategies,methods,and skills from a cognitive perspective,and proposes the translating strategy for philosophical works.Chapter Two.A Comparative Study of Translating Strategies and Practices in the Two Chinese Translations of Feng Youlan's A Short History of Chinese Philosophy: This Chapter analyzes the translating strategies and practices of Zhao Fusan and Feng Youlan as shown in their translations of Short History and compares their characteristics.Chapter Three.Conclusions and Others.This Chapter provides the comparative study results of and reading choice suggestions for the two Chinese translations of Feng's Short History;and provides insights into the ancient Chinese philosophical works and their translation from the cognitive linguistic perspective.
