Chinese literature in North America is a key component of overseas Chinese literature.The number of writers and works is relatively large.In recent years,it has received extensive attention from scholars at home and abroad.The Chinese American writer Amy Tan and the Canadian new immigrant writer Zhang Ling have relatively prominent positons in Chinese writers in North America.The identity of female writers and the similarity of living areas have given many common points in their creations to Amy Tan and Zhang Ling.The group of the mixed-blood is a product of alien marriage and its emergence and development have provides new objects for the study of overseas Chinese literature.In Amy Tan and Zhang Ling's novels,they created many figures of the mixed-blood,showed the survival dilemma and cultural situation of the special group.This thesis includes the introduction,the text and the conclusion.The introduction part mainly elaborates the definition of relevant concepts,introduces the research status of the thesis in related fields,and briefly discusses the research methods,topics selected and their significance.The text is divided into the following four chapters:The first chapter discusses the cultural identity of the mixed-blood group.As a special group of the mixed-blood,the diversity of ancestry makes them acquire multiple identity.The contradictory psychology makes them have a strong demand of identity,which is “Who I am?”.North American attitude towards the mixed-blood ofen manifest as exclusion and acceptance.The mixed-blood group struggle to survive in this paradoxical and overwhelmed environment.The second chapter discusses the cultural search of the mixed-blood group.The cultural dilemma of the mixed-blood group generally comes from both family and the society.There are three prominent conflicts in family: mothers and daughters,marriage,sisters.The cause of social contradictions lies in the ambivalence of the mixed-blood for their own cultural identity.The third chapter discusses the cultural search of the mixed-blood group.The urgent identification needs and the difficult cultural dilemmas of the mixed-blood group prompted them to carry out cultural search.This kind of cultural search motivation for external forces.In the process of cultural seach,food and language act as the main medium for searching and enhance the sense of identity of the mixed-blood group for their own culture.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the inspiration of the special nature of the mixed-blood group for Chinese education.There are many similarities between Chinese language education and Chinese as a foreign language.The mixed-blood who have Chinese descent have a certain foundation for Chinese language learning and have a certain degree of cognition of Chinese culture.They cannot be regarded as the same teaching object of the mixedblood who have Chinese descent and foreigners.Therefore,we should pay attention to the speciality of the mixed-blood group,find effective teaching methods and targeted teaching content to guide Chinese education more effectively outside the domain.The conclusion is a brief summary of this thesis.
