This report is a case study of the C-E translation of an excerpt from the book called Introduction to Shizuishan City by Jia Chang'an,which belongs to a typical publicity material.This book introduces the long history of Shizuishan,natural resources and achievements made by Shizuishan in economic development,urban and rural development,people's livelihood,tourism development and cultural undertakings.With concise language and abundant contents,this book is not only a guide book for people at home and abroad,but also an image card to publicize Shizuishan.When translating publicity material,the most important is to ensure that the information can be conveyed effectively to the target language readers.Therefore,the author of the report resorted to Relevance Theory as the guidance.In the process of translation,from lexical level and sentence level,the author of the report discusses the degree of relevance of information and the application of direct translation and indirect translation in the translation of words and sentences,so that the optimal relevance between the understanding of the target language readers and the intention of the writer can be achieved. |
