This is an English-Chinese translation report. The source text of the translation practice is Mongolian Shamanism(chapters 1-4)by Professor Purev Otgony. The source text mainly tells us the history, world view and religious rituals of Mongolian Shamanism. The first four chapters introduce the development of Mongolian Shamanism. It was founded from the Matriarchy to the establishment of the first independent state;and during the Hunnu Dynasty,it reached the peak of development;then there are many religious groups and sects in Mongolia;gradually,Shamanism was impacted by other religions,so it began to decline. In the process of the careful translation, because of the differences between religious cultures,it is obvious to find that there are so many difficulties, including the lexical difficulties and syntactic difficulties. The lexical difficulties contain the translation of proper nouns, polysemy and culture-loaded words;and the syntactic difficulties contain the translation of attributive clauses, passive sentences. This report analyzes and elaborates on the methods to solve these difficulties. For lexical difficulties, the translator mainly uses the methods of transliteration and annotation, selection of extended meanings and semantic translation;for syntactic difficulties, the translator mainly uses the methods of translating attributive clauses into adverbial clauses and pre-modifiers,transformation of voice. The translator describes in detail the use of the methods and solves these difficulties. The translation of the source text can broaden readers? horizon and open their mind to the history about Shamanism.During the translation, the translator has also accumulated a lot of practice and improved the quality of translation, which have laid the solid foundation of translation study and translation mission in the future.
