There are almost 55 minorities in China,25 of which live in Yunnan Province in the southwest of China.Yiche people have inhabited on the south bank of Honghe in Yunnan and belong to one branch of Hani ethnic minority,which has a rich and colorful ethnic culture and the spiritual belief.The book The Culture of Yiche People was compiled by Mr.Mao Youquan and Mr.Fu Guangyu;it systematically expounds the customs and culture of Yiche people and it is also one of the significant literary works to study the local customs and practices of Yiche people at home and abroad.In this report,the source text is excerpted from the twelfth chapter of The Culture of Yiche People,and the main idea of this chapter is Yiche people’s beliefs in animism and ancestor worship.At the same time,they hold a series of sacrificial activities which mainly focused on agricultural production and village construction with distinctive ethnic characteristics.There are four parts included in this report: the first part introduces the translation task and the content of the source text;the second part specifies the whole process of translation;in the third part,under the guidance of Reception Aesthetics Theory,the translator analyzes the cases of translation and sums up that different translation methods need to be selected in different situations;the last part is the conclusion.The translator hopes that the translation practice can provide some suggestions for other translators who want to translate the similar texts.
