Research On The Subjectivity Of E-C Simultaneous Interpreters From The Perspective Of Skopostheorie

The subjectivity of translators and interpreters mostly refers to their subjective initiative and creativity.The subjectivity runs through the entire process of translation and interpreting and directly affects the quality.However,most researches on subjectivity have been focused on translation and the subjectivity of interpreters has barely been probed into,especially the subjectivity of simultaneous interpreters.Under the guidance of Skopostheorie,this thesis conducts a qualitative study on the subjectivity of simultaneous interpreters,using the speeches of Apple's new product launches from 2016 to 2017 and their on-site SI transcripts as the corpus.And it aims to analyze the necessity and tactics to exert the simultaneous interpreter's subjectivity so as to improve the quality of SI.This thesis covers six chapters.Chapter one is an introduction of the research background,research content and its significance.Chapter two is literature review,an introduction of previous studies of SI and subjectivity.Chapter three is the theoretical framework,and it discusses Skopostheorie and the interpreter's subjectivity in light of Skopostheorie.Skopostheorie provides theoretical basis for the exertion of simultaneous interpreter's subjectivity.However,it also limits the exertion of subjectivity in the meantime.Chapter four is an illustration of methodology adopted in this thesis which consists of the research data,research objectives and questions,research procedure and data analysis.Chapter five is the main body of the thesis,which analyzes the interpreter's subjectivity in the SI of Apple's product launches.Chapter six is the conclusion of this thesis.Under the guidance of Skopostheorie,the simultaneous interpreter can choose appropriate interpreting tactics,such as omission,addition and substitution,aiming to fully exert the simultaneous interpreter's subjectivity and fulfill the skopos of the target version.
