The War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in Western Yunnan is an indispensable part of the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and an integral part of the World War of Anti-Fascism as well.During the war between good and evil, the Chinese Expeditionary Force fought courageously and won a series of victories with the support from the ethnic groups in Western Yunnan and the assistance from the Allied Forces. This history not only plays a crucial role to accelerate the final victory of the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, but also serves as an important theme of research for the historians. The source text is selected from The War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in Western Yunnan. It presents the real situation and the war process in Western Yunnan from an objective, real, and accurate perspective. The reporter is responsible for Chapter Two,which mainly describes how the Chinese Expeditionary Force cooperated with the British and the US forces against the Japanese Army, and how they protected the Burma Road at the cost of their lives when they entered Burma in 1942.The translator analyzed the source text and identified its text type before she decided on a useful strategy for her practice under the guidance of Translation Shift proposed by John Catford.Of the four chapters, the first deals with the background, objectives and significance of the task. The second focuses on the translation process including theoretical preparation, translation process and channels for quality improvement in the post-translation stage. The third chapter,as the core part, shows how the text is analyzed and how the problems are solved with illustrative examples. The fourth chapter sums up the gains and unsolved problems in addition to the inadequacies and inspirations. This is done with the hope of providing a feasible reference to the translator and her peers alike for their future work of translating more historical texts.
