China and Thailand have been friends and have an intimated relationship for a long period of time since in the past.Both countries,China and Thailand,have been developing their great friendship through communication.Referring to Chinese language,it is considerably playing an important role to Thai people and also Thai people are interested in learning Chinese language.At the present time,Thailand also has a lot of priests who are studying Chinese.Thus,researcher would like to study the causes of motivation in learning Chinese of priests in Thailand.To this study,researcher has three objectives: 1.To study the motivation in learning Chinese language of priests in Thailand,2.To examine the condition and educational pattern which affect to the priests' motivation in learning Chinese language and 3.To develop other aspects of factors that will affect to the increasing of priests' achievement in learning Chinese.Researcher has studied and collected the data of 672 priests from 10 schools of Pariyatti Dhama in Thailand where Chinese language course was launched.Researcher applied program SPSS and Excel in analyzing process by means of investigating and analyzing the five aspects of causes of learning motivation.The five aspects can be divided as follows: 1.Internal Motivation Aspects: “Chinese language interests” and “ Chinese culture interests”.2.External Motivation Aspects: “family”,“society” and “school environment”.From the results of study can be concluded that 1.The most important factor of learning motivation in Chinese language comes from internal motivation in the aspect of “Chinese culture interests” and the secondary factor is external motivation in the aspect of “school environment” 2.Between the group of Mahayana-Payatti schools and the group of Pariyatti schools that the priests are allowed to select the Chinese language in study,the first group of Mahayana-Payatti schools have higher average of motivation than the second group.Researcher truly hope that this study will provide the advantages to thedevelopment of Chinese language teaching to the priest in Thailand and also to the analysis and development of Chinese curriculum or course in the future.
