Vietnam is a Buddhist country. The earliest Buddhism was from China. So far, most of the Vietnamese Buddhist scriptures are written in Chinese. Therefore, if Vietnamese Buddhist monks and nuns want to study the Buddhist scriptures, they must learn Chinese. This is also the main reason that most monks and nuns in Vietnam begin to learn Chinese. So it’s a very important and urgent task of the Vietnam Chinese teaching profession to effectively improve the Chinese teaching quality for the monks and nuns Students in the University of Buddhist.Because the learning objectives and conditions are different, there are a lot of differences between monks, nuns and other Chinese learners to study Chinese as a second language. But till now, there is no teaching expertise study about Vietnamese monks and nuns learning Chinese. Through questionnaires, interviews, classroom observation and practical classroom teaching of Vietnamese Buddhist monks and nuns, the main purpose of this study is to understand the basic situation of Chinese learning, teaching and the Buddhist University academic structure, the Chinese curriculum, Chinese language teaching facilities etc. On those basses, combined with the internship experience, the author find out some Chinese teaching and learning problems, and put forward some reasonable teaching suggestions. In order to promote the level of Chinese teaching in Vietnam Buddhist University, and improve monks and nuns’ learning Chinese ability and efficiency.This study is divided into five chapters:the first chapter is introduction, which introduces topics reason, the significance of the topic, and literature review; the second chapter is about research methods., which recommends the research objectives, methods and specific implementation steps; Chapter III introduces the language teaching and learning situation of monks and nuns from the University of Buddhist which is located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, through the method of questionnaires, interviews, classroom observation, the author conducted a statistical analysis of Buddhist monks and nuns students, and identify some problems in the aspects of learning and teaching Chinese; Chapter analyses the situation of the Vietnam Buddhist monks and nuns, and find out the statistical analysis of survey motivation and purpose of the monks and nuns to learn Chinese. Chapter puts forward some teaching and learning Chinese suggestions, combined the survey and practical internship experience.
