Research Of The Influence Of Similarity And Complementarity On College Students' Mate Selection:in The Eye Of The Owner And Observer

Marriage is a kind of common psychological,social and cultural phenomenon.In China “Reach old age together,forever” values deeply rooted in the hearts of the people,“In case of regret in the later,no matter how careful before” are the common state of mind of mate choice.For individuals,choosing a proper mate is one of the most important decisions in life,a suitable spouse will affect the whole of life.Only correct and proper mate choice decisions would have a sweet love and happy marriage.Marriage itself is not nowhere,however,also has a certain objective regularity,it is not only influenced by the biological factors,but also by some psychological and behavioral factors and social factors.In view of this,this study was to explore how the similarity influence individual's mate choice.This study consists of two parts,three experimental research and six test.The first part use questionnaire to explore the factors that influence the mating.The second part is the behavior experiment,Explored the impact of facial attraction,personality characteristics and social status on the individual's mate choice,respectively from the angle of the onlookers and the parties.The results show that:(1)When the individual is a parties,men pay more attention to the appearance of the other,For individual with high attractive faces,male's willingness to be loves was significantly higher than female,however,for individual with low attractive faces,male's willingness to be loves was significantly lower than female.(2)When the individual is a bystander,think women and men with similar facial attraction are more likely to be lovers(3)When the individual is a parties,personality traits had no effect on personality characteristics of male mating,however,the female are more inclined to choose members of the complementary personality traits as their partner.(4)When the individual is a bystander,women valued partner's personality traits,think that men and women with complementary personality traits are more likely to become a couple.(5)When the individual is a parties,social status women had significant effect on female's mating,the willingness to mate is high social status of individual > similar social status individuals' >low social status of individuals'(6)When the individual is a bystander,women think two individuals with similar social status more likely to be lovers.
