The birth and evolution of the Western theory of art,continue to inject new vitality for the art world.As the globalization development of the world,however,art is becoming a social services tool which is used in areas of politics,art market and art critics etcetera.Firstly,art relies on these areas in order to promote a better development for itself,also,to obtain proper rights and positions;secondly,art is supposed to have its own construction features,instead of manipulation by the reality.In order to cater for the preferences of the Western art,in order to the own interests and prestige of artists and art critics,artists and art critics criticize art works by the western ideas rather than the truthfully criticize the art works.The real art critics are reducing recently.Later on in the 1980 s of the 20 th century,under the influence of the Western art theories,the Chinese art is changing to a new look.The Chinese young artists began to study and utilize the theories and concepts of Western art.So the Chinese art is progressively developing in the construction of the artistic theory and artistic creation under the influence of dual conditions.There are two development directions of Chinese contemporary art.One development direction is the politicization of images;the other one development direction is that the artists are studiously avoiding the reality and ideology,however,the artists paid more attentions on the painting.Meanwhile,under the influence of Western cultural and ideological differences,there is a significant difference in art theory.Moreover,this difference also affects the Chinese and Western concept of artistic creation and art criticism.Fundamentally,the art concepts and art criticism have been interpreted and illustrated through both of views.Through the case studies analysis of Chinese artists,regard the art works from artists at different periods as an axis,the differences and commons of Chinese and Western art criticism could be found from the case studies in the pluralistic society.To explain the main position,viewpoints and approaches of Chinese and Western art criticism,identify the fundamental reasons of the difference and commons and analyze the Chinese art and culture is the way of review of the global context.Through case studies analysis of art works from Chinese artists,this paper attempts to find out the differences in culture and ideological of Chinese and Western art criticism;identify the causes and influences of this differences;investigate the issues of “modernization” Western culture;finally advocate artists and art critics to not only just keep art global,but also support the differences between Chinese and Western art,in order to build a great development in the art world.
