| Since the 90’s,the broadcast of Korean TV dramas in China has been welcomed warmly by Chinese audiences.After the year 2000,mature idol dramas began to appear and become more frequent,making it a favorite pop culture item in China.Many works quickly swept the whole of Asia,not only in Mainland China,but in Japan,Southeast Asia and other countries,including Middle Eastern countries;making it gain loyal fans in no time.Now the Korean wave has become a household name in Chinese life and has a positive impact on both Korean goods and Korea’s national image as a whole.TV dramas are not only an output of culture,but also a core part of Korea’s cultural industry.For a long time,because of China and Korea’s homologous culture and geographical proximity,China has become one of the most important market consumers for the output of Korean TV Dramas.This paper sorts out the period of development Korean Idol dramas have also gone through in China.Korean dramas do not exist for the sole purpose of cultural output,but is also about the governmental support of the film and television industry.Its themes,narratives,elements and topics are constantly changing and depicted in detail,making it loved by all audiences.It could be said that Chinese society more willingly accepts Korean culture,because they are more easily able to empathize with the realistic description of life in Korea and the friendly expression of feelings being portrayed.Through a questionnaire survey,this paper will analyze the Chinese audience,compare the survival rate of both Korean and Chinese TV dramas,and summarize the success of Korean Dramas as a form of cross cultural communication,in order to provide enlightenment for the external communication of Chinese popular culture.To sustain the Korean wave,it would be necessary to make an effort to improve the quality of TV dramas and to create an environment where an active relationship between Korea and other countries,including but not limited to China.This can happen by exchanging TV drama production systems or producing joint TV programs.To sustain the Korean wave,therefore,it would be necessary to make an effort to improve the quality of TV dramas and to make an active relationship between Korea and Overseas including China.for example,by exchanging TV drama production systems or producing programs jointly. |
