A Practice Report On Translation Of A Wrestling Life (Chapters 6-10)

This practice report is based on the translation of the 6^th-10^thh chapters of the book A Wrestling Life.The book is an autobiography of the famous American wrestling champion,Dan Gable.It shows a wrestling legend to readers by telling some inspiriting stories.This report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is a description of the task of this translation practice.It includes four parts:task source,task content,task requirements and task agenda.The second chapter is a description of the process of translation,including four stages:receiving the task,task preparations,translation process and proofreading.The third chapter is the preparations before translation,including four steps:firstly,seeking the textual characteristics;secondly,reading parallel texts;thirdly,choosing the guidable theory;finally,unifying the terms.The fourth chapter is also the core of this practice report.It’s mainly about a detailed analysis of some typical cases by the means of the implementation of Eugene A.Nida’s functional equivalence theory,the understanding of the biographical literary translation,and the application of some specific translation strategies.The fifth chapter is a comprehensive summary of this translation practice report and a summary of what I have got through the translation practice.Through this translation practice,I have gone through the complete translation process.It is a very valuable experience.
