In today's world, after two decades of ups and downs in its development, the Chinese game industry is having a huge impact on China's economy and society.A large number of foreign games continue to flock into the Chinese market,so the demand for game localization keeps growing, and the importance of the game manual is self-evident.The quality of game manual translation directly affects the promotion of games and the experience of game players, thus determining the interests of game developers. However, there are relatively few studies on the translation of game manuals at home and abroad.Based on the translation of the game manual of Megacorp, this practical report sorts out the problems encountered in translation practice from the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels.First,at the lexical level, there are translation problems about proper nouns, terms and neologism,as well as mistranslation of polysemy.Secondly,at the syntactic level, there are translation problems of long and difficult sentences and the mistranslation of passive sentences. Finally,at the discourse level, the main problems include the lack of cohesion and coherence between sentences, and the improper structure within a paragraph.Under the guidance of the "function plus loyalty" theory, this report focuses on the analysis of translation problems of the game manual, and tries to put forward the corresponding solutions. This report makes preliminary research on the E-C translation of game manuals and is expected to shed some light on the translation in this field.
