Research On Weng Fanggang's Thought Of Calligraphy

The social environment is the fertile soil given to academic research.Therefore,during the period of the Qing Dynasty form Qianlong to Jiaqing,it is an era of great harvest for academic research,which not only has Complete Library in the Four Brands of Literature,but also the rapid development of down-to-earth Learning.The prosperity of Exegesis and Textology is a powerful impetus to the great leap of academic atmosphere.The popularity of study atmosphere has played a powerful driving role in the development of calligraphy,especially the theory of inscription science.In the Qing Dynasty,the calligraphic arts had a rich tradition of inscription science,together with touching a large number of stone tablets,which produced brilliant calligraphy achievements in this period.Weng Fanggang,As a master in the field of Sphragistics in the period of Qian Long and Jiaqing,his thoughts were developed on this rich foundation.Mr.Weng has an almost fanatical enthusiasm for the research of Sphragistics,as written a great deal of touchstone works through visited a large number of stone tablets.Along with the deepening of the research of the stone tablet,the idea of advocating the past gradually became the mainstream of the mind.Weng Fanggang has made outstanding achievements in calligraphy,together with LiuYong,Liang Tongshu,and Wang Wenzhi,which are called “The Four Members of the inscription science” in the Qing Dynasty.Besides,During the reign of Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong,the emperor's admiration for Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang's calligraphy became the mainstream of the calligraphy circle,and the intellectual studied Zhao Mengfu and Dong Qichang's calligraphy in order to increase the success rate of the imperial examination,and cater to the emperor.At a time,the court was dominated by “Cangjin “and the charming calligraphy style,which led to the decline of the inscription science.Weng Fanggang,at this time,advocated the study of Chinese steles with a keen eye,against the spirit of “Cangjin” and the charming calligraphy style.Mr.Weng Fanggang,as an epigrapher,can look at the limitations of inscription science in the original view.It is suggested that writing should be based on the inscription of the Tang Dynasty,and change the atmosphere of aspiring calligraphy of Zhao and Dong in the early Qing Dynasty.As a result of the great achievements in the field of Sphragistics,Weng Fanggang has played a positive role in the process of the transformation of the inscription,which is worthy of our affirmation.In this paper,an attempt is made to evaluate the calligraphy achievements of Weng Fanggang and his calligraphy thought through powerful literature.
