The Study On The Relationship Between University Students' Alienation And Life Event: The Mediating Role Of Social Support

With the emphasis of family,school and society on students' mental health,the mental health status of college students has become the focus of attention.University era is a critical period of self-development,and college students left the familiar and busy life before,into a relatively unfamiliar and free life.In the process of adaptation,it results in a sense of alienation of interpersonal,social,environmental,and natural due to the negative life events with a immature and unstable mentality.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to understand the status quo of the current sense of alienation among college students and to inspire them to come up with effective suggestions and countermeasures,so as to provide more empirical and theoretical evidences for the psychological health education of college students.In this study,Adolescent Students' Alienation Scale,Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check-list and Adolescent Social Support Scale were used as measurement tools.Four 800 college students in Sichuan Province were surveyed.After the analysis of the collected data,the results show that:(1)The total alienation score of college students was 3.22,which was at a lower level.The scores of each dimension,from high to low,are environmental alienation,social alienation and interpersonal alienation.(2)There is a significant difference in the total scores of alienation among students and their dimensions in terms of gender,grade,and whether there are left-behind experiences;the total scores of alienation of college students and their dimensions are not statistically significant in the only child or not.(3)The score of college students' negative life events was 56.46.Negative life events had moderate impact on college students.(4)The score of social support for college students was 63.22,and the college students received good social support.(5)Life events,social support,and alienation of college students are significantly correlated,and both life events and social support can negatively predict alienation.(6)Social support has an intermediary role between life events and alienation.39.60% of the effects of life events on alienation are through social support.
