In the context of Hollywood movies ruling movie industry worldwide today, commercial films are occupying the market and it's hard for art movies to survive.Since commercial theaters are almost exclusively aiming at box office,it is difficult for them to provide adequate scheduling for art films. The survival and development of art films depends on the establishment of art-house cinema for specific audiences. In recent years,China has also made some attempt in art-house cinema, and formed several different operating models. At present, there are mainly three forms of art-house cinema in China: the public art-house cinema model represented by the Art Cinema of the China Film Archive, the commercial art-house cinema model represented by the Broadway MOMA Film Center, and the art-house cinema chain model represented by the National Art Film Alliance. This paper analyzes the three operating models through case analysis and comparative research. At the same time,it proposes the future development direction of art-house cinema in China. The author believes that compared with the non-profit art-house cinemas that rely on government support and commercial art-house cinemas that requires great passion and commitment of the operator, the art cinema line model is more suitable for the current film environment in mainland China. At the same time, the article will also describe the interaction between art-house cinema and the entire film industry, and clarify the value of art cinema in the current Chinese film market.
