With the growing international influence of China,many people from other countries begin to learn Chinese culture.Cultural textbooks are written materials on which cultural education is based.A high quality cultural textbook can give lots of help for foreigners studying Chinese culture.At present,a large number of cultural teaching materials have emerged in China's foreign teaching,but the compilation level of teaching materials are uneven.There still aren't many high-quality cultural textbooks.By studying several kinds of cultural textbooks which are widely used in foreign students' teaching investigate the contents of cultural textbooks.Some suggestions can be provided for the compilation of cultural textbooks in the future and the selection of cultural textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language in universities.Two sets of cultural textbooks-"panorama of Culture",which is edited by Shi Ji and published by higher Education Press and“China's Cultural Heritage,which is edited by Han JianTang and published by Beijing language University Press ” are taken as the research objects.Firstly,this paper introduces the basic situation of the two sets of cultural textbooks,summarizes the two sets of cultural textbooks,analyzes and compares the arrangement style and layout design of the two sets of cultural textbooks.Secondly,it focuses on the analysis of the cultural projects of the two sets of cultural textbooks,carries out a questionnaire survey based on the overseas students' attention to Chinese cultural projects to investigate the selection of the cultural projects of the two sets of cultural textbooks.Thirdly,by comparing the specific contents of the text,vocabulary,exercises of the textbooks to discuss the differences,advantages and disadvantages of the two sets of cultural textbooks in these aspects.Finally,the paper discusses the common characteristic of the two teaching materials what needs to improve from the macroscopic aspect and I also provides some suggestions for students and the selection of cultural teaching materials.On the basis of the above study probes into the general laws,methods and thoughts of compiling cultural textbooks.Andaccording to the problems that found in the research,I put forward some feasible suggestions to improve the quality of cultural textbooks.
