A Practice Report On The Translation Of Science And Technology

This translation report is based on the translation practice of Science and Technology(from Chapter 1 to Chapter 5,about 20,000 words).The source text aims at helping the preschool teachers and parents learn how to help the preschoolers in the aspect of the science and technology.The source text includes substantial education cases,pictures,tables as well as educational methods.The preschool teachers and parents could learn the advanced educational methods and acquire helpful suggestions through this translation report.This report consists of five parts.The first part is about the basic information of the translation task,including the introduction of Science and Technology and the significance of the translation.The second part mainly discusses translation process and revision process.The third part deals with preparation before translation,such as reading the source text and parallel text,selecting the domestication translation strategy and translation tools.The fourth part presents case analysis from four aspects:the addition and omission of words;dealing the long sentences with liner interpretation or dividing them into short sentences;the characteristics of Science and Technology;and the translation of tables.The last part of this report summarizes the whole translation process,the unsolved problems and the lessons and experience that translator learned from the translation.
