English major in X university is national characteristic specialty.All English major students have no specific discipline orientation in freshman year,and they only learn and drill basic English knowledge in the first year in university.In the second year,they will come into three different colleges to further characteristic specialty learning.In order to study the current situation of English majors' university adaptation in second-year in X university and explore whether they had met obstacles during the process of adaptation at new college,questionnaires and interviews are applied in this thesis.The findings are as follows: 1.The second year English majors in X University can adapt university life basically.2.The adaption level among the four dimensions is not consist,the adaptation of interaction is the best and the adaptation of mental is the worst.3.Some differences exist in the adaptation of four dimensions among all second year English majors in X university.There are some obstacles existing in the process of university adaptation,which are as follows: 1.No interest and no proper goals to professional studies existing in study adaptation dimension;2.Can't get along well with classmates and interpersonal relationship is limited existing in interaction adaptation dimension;3.Inconsistent living habits existing in university life adaptation dimension;4.Bad self-adjustment ability existing in mental adaptation dimension.This research is not only beneficial for English major students in X university to adapt university,but also for the English majors management work in other universities and the improvement of higher English major education quality.
