A Practice Report On Interpreting For The 14^th CAEXPO Media Networking Program

With China-ASEAN Free Trade Area(CAFTA)serving as a strong impetus,the trade between China and ASEAN has developed rapidly.China and ASEAN countries have become important business partners.The 14 th China-ASEAN Expo was held in Nanning in September,2017.Gathered in Nanning,journalists from all over the world were excited to broadcast news about the CAEXPO.During the EXPO,the 14 th CAEXPO Media Networking Program was held by the News and Publicity Department of the CAEXPO.The main purpose of this networking program was to listen to the journalists experience and opinions towards the past few days,and make targeting explanations and statements.Serving as the interpreter of this networking program,the author was required to conduct consecutive interpretation throughout the conference.In the first chapter of this report,the author talked about the background,requirement and characteristics of the interpreting task.In the second chapter,the author described the pre-interpreting preparation of the task and briefly introduced the process of the task.In the third chapter,that is the core part of the report,the author demonstrated the errors she made,challenges she encountered and strategies she applied in the task through the analysis of different interpretation segments.Moreover,the author analyzed other interpretation quality-affecting factors in the task.Through the analysis of cases,in chapter four,the author gave suggestions and reflections by illustrating the merits of advance preparation and coping tactics for various incidents.In the fifth chapter,the author summarized her performance in the practice and carried out the reflection that interpreters should improve themselves from the aspects of professional skills and comprehensive quality.It is hoped that this essay could provide useful suggestions and advice for the author's future interpreting practice,as well as provide a reference for other interpreters to promote their implementation of networking conference interpreting.
