In recent years, people have become more aware of the importance of art education in China. While promoting the all-round development of students, art education is more conducive to stimulating learning and practice and cultivating students' creativity and practical ability.Art-education curriculum is one of the important carriers of the implementation of art education, its content,to some extent, reflects educators' thoughts about how to cultivate students' creativity, interest and manipulative ability, and guarantee the realization of the goal of art-education courses and enhance the ability of the students. The art education in higher vocational colleges is relatively representative, because higher vocational colleges aim at training high-quality skilled talents with practice and creativity. They pay more attention to students' creativity and interests, and the cultivation of their craftsman spirit. As relevant surveys indicate, the most lacking quality of higher vocational students is their innovative capacity, and it is also what most students what to improve. The lack of innovative capacity is largely due to the contemporary lack of art education, the selection of curriculum content and the unreasonable setting. Therefore, training vocational students' practical and innovative ability can only be realized by the platform of art education, especially through the implementation of the content-setting of art education.Because of the late start of art education in the higher vocational colleges in China, many problems in their curriculums have impeded art education from playing their role. Therefore, this research, taking the role of art education as its starting point, studies the status quo of the content of the art education curriculums in higher vocational colleges, which puts forward several corresponding suggestions to solve its current problems from the perspective of art education content,so as to better play the role of art education in higher vocational colleges, and finally cultivate creative spirit and practical ability skilled personnel.First of all, based on the method of textural analysis, this research combs and analyzes the theories of the content of art education curriculum in higher vocational colleges, and examines two major aspects of the content of art education curriculum: its setting and the security for its implementation. The setting includes the targets, the educational principles, the theoretical basis of the selection course content, the typology of courses, the design of course content and the features of course content. The security for its implementation consists of the policies of art education, faculty groups, curriculum resources and course evaluation.Secondly,by analyzing the contents of 43 teaching materials of art education and the 6 textbooks of art appreciation with the method of content analysis, the research found that the main existing problems of art education curriculum are: unable to fulfill the targets of the courses;too focused on the teaching of theories, while overlooks the practicality of art;its coverage is too narrow;doesn't have clear features, and undermines aesthetic evaluation;not comprehensive.Thirdly,I compiled questionnaire of art education curriculum for higher vocational colleges, and investigated the satisfaction degree of art education curriculum and expectancy of content of art education curriculum. The research object is divided into two categories, one is students with art education, the other is without art education courses, the results show that there are seven main problems for students with art education curriculum, the first is that their targets are not well achieved;the second is that most of the courses are elective, their text books' rate of utilization need to be improved;the third is that most of them are concentrating on popular forms of art, like music, fine arts and cinema;the fourth is the features of their text books are not evident;the fifth is their monotonous form and lack of practical training;the sixth is their students' varied satisfaction to the art education they received;the seventh is colleges' limited attention to art education. There are three expectancies for students without art education to art curriculum: the first is to promote students' capacity of aesthetic appreciation and creation;the second is to diversify the type of art-education courses;the third is to promote students' creativity. Finally,by interviews with higher vocational students which aims to get to know status quo of art education activities in higher vocational colleges, the research show the current art education activities are limited, higher vocational students participate less in such activities, and the participated with non-aesthetic attitudes. To solve these problems of art education curriculum in higher vocational colleges, this research puts forward corresponding suggestions on how to revise the content of art education and how to secure the implementation of art education. In terms of the content of art education,my suggestions include: first, clarifying the target of art education;the second is increasing the portion of practical training;the third is diversifying the types of art-education courses, and bringing in local, indigenous traditions into education;the fourth is highlighting the characteristics of art education, and foregrounding aesthetic appreciation;the fifth is promoting the comprehensiveness of art education. In terms of artistic activities,my first suggestion is to increase their forms in practice;the second is to incorporate more participants;the third is merge activities with class-room education. From the perspective of securing the implementation of art education,we should put more effort in the construction of art education courses, improve teaching faculty, and guide students to establish the correct values.
