The Yi are an ethnic group with a long history,large population,and their own language and written script.Yi are the largest ethnic group in Southwest China that is able to coherently write literature in both their mother language and Han language.This rich cultural creativity is essential for the “One Belt,One Road” national project and important for promoting multiethnic,multilingual and multicultural interaction for the purpose of “pluralistic integration” in Chinese civilization.Since ancient times,literary and artistic works have represented important accomplishments in Yi creativity.In Yi literature,poems are a vital art form.In the development of contemporary Yi Studies,the poet Aku Wuwu has excelled in promoting ethnic cultural diversity and modern communication.In particular,in terms of the reconfiguration of meaning and language in Chinese multiethnic literary theory,he has made original and effective explorations.He has also contributed valuable theoretical thought and knowledge.This thesis primarily uses Aku Wuwu's bilingual works in order to examine the origin of Yi literary practice,cultural and historical memory,and social change behind “bilingual lives and poetic creativity ”In addition to the introduction,this thesis consists of four parts.The introduction discusses the topic background from the perspective of Aku Wuwu's poetic works.It then outlines the essential content,theory,methods,contributions,and related domestic and foreign research.Chapter 1 clarifies Aku Wuwu's thoughts on Yi Studies,including Yi Han bilingual works and diverse identities.It also clarifies and defines the notions of “Yi Studies” “Second Mother Tongue” “Bilingual Creativity” and “Cultural Mixed Blood” Chapter 2 explores the generative mechanisms,value,and language choices in Aku Wuwu's mother tongue poetry from the multidimensional perspective of Yi contemporary literature and standardized Yi.Chapter 3 looks at Aku Wuwu's seminal Han language poetry works in order to analyze the poetic meaning of “Second Mother Tongue Writing” “Cross-cultural writing” and “Poetic Ethnographic Writing” Chapter 4 examines the life history,thought history,soul history,and dissemination of Aku Wuwu's poetic works in a complex era of globalization and diversification.Caught between multiple aesthetic,cultural and linguistic expressions,poetic studies have begun to focus on “bilingual works” and recognize their value and contributions to modern Chinese literary theory.The conclusion first argues against the positivist study of Aku Wuwu's poetry and the tendency towards intellectual elitism.It then suggests how poets can use their power,practice,and creativity to engage themselves,their ethnic group,nation,and even the world with the promises of youth.
