The author intends to present the report of an interpreting task,which is based on the 4th course of China-Africa Legal Professional Exchange Project where the author provided interpreting services for the lecture named the Belt and Road and Economic Law in China.The report contains four parts,namely task description,process description,case study and conclusion.The report starts with a task description of the interpreting task carried out by the author.On 6th June,2017,the 4th course of China-Africa Legal Professional Exchange Project was held at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies,which was joined by professors from School of Legal Studies of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies,China Law Society and 19 legal practitioners from 19 African countries.Then the report presents the interpreting process,which contains pre-task preparation,interpreting process and post-task description.In the case study,the author analyzed different roles of the author during this task and responding interpreting strategies adopted.The author believes that her role in this interpreting task is not limited as the traditional definition of the interpreter.Rather the author assumes several roles in the task so to move the dialogue forward,namely,co-interlocutor,mediator and interpreter's ability to depart from a strictly neutral stance.By using the examples,the author analyzed different roles she played and examines her interpretation strategies applied in the task.In the fourth part,the author concludes the report by summarizing the interpreter's role during the task and hopefully,shedding some light on learning and practicing interpreting.
