In 2015,South Korean KBS TV launched the documentary "Super China".A total of seven episodes were filmed, introducing the status quo of China's development from five aspects: economy, politics, culture, military, population and resources. The film crew traveled to more than 20 countries, including the United States,Greece,Argentina,Kenya, and Vietnam, and observed the changes brought by China to the world with the views of government officials, research scholars, entrepreneurs, and ordinary people. For a time,it was heatedly debated by the media, academic circles, and the people of China and South Korea. In this paper, content analysis and text analysis are used, and narratology are used to analyze the narrative strategies of Super China.Firstly, content analysis method are used to sort out the five issues of the military, the population, the population and resources.A framework was established to sum up the dual China image created by the documentary: the development of China and hegemony in China, and answer questions about the shape of the Chinese image. Then, this paper analyzes the narrator's narrative perspective and narrative structure of "Super China",and then uses the method of film science to study the audiovisual language of "Super China".Finally,it analyzes the audio language for commentary and dialogue,as well as the long shot and montage in order to deconstruct the image of China as created by Super China and answer the question of how to shape the image of China. The motive for shaping the foreign image is to satisfy the needs of the shaper.Whether the image reflects facts is not the most important. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to explore the reasons why Super China created the image of dual China.Based on the research of cross-cultural imagology, this paper will use Marc Moja's viewpoint: image of “Utopia” and “Ideology” which used in constructing exotic images as a starting point, and then use the four principles concerning the "mirror" effect which proposed by Prof.Lin Xi: "imagine motives for pollution," "facts involving nothing," "concrete situations," and "subjective beliefs," as well as theanalysis and interpretation of the construction of a "China image" in western countries. It contains the four principles of " the principle the hegemony of Western construct " "the principle of a differential mode of image approximation/ distanciation " " the principle of collusion " and " the principle of plurality exclusion " It sorts out relations between South Korea and China,South Korea and Japan, and the relationship between South Korea and the West to find out the historical and practical reasons why Korean media filmed "Super China" to shape the dual image of China, answering the question of "why" in shaping the image of China. In the final part of the speech, the paper tries to find ways to deal with the dual image of China.
