A Study On Translation Selection Of Xi Jinping's International Speech From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

The thesis focuses on 10 international speeches of Xi Jinping to discuss interpreter's translation selections on the basis of Eco-translatology.There are two questions the thesis tries to solve.What kind of translation selections in Xi Jinping's international speech translation materials? Why are there three translation selections? First of all,the thesis applies random sampling method to select some examples of interpreter's translation selections——maintaining,coordinating and reconstructing,and also uses “Three-dimensional Transformation” to analyze them on linguistic,cultural,and communicative dimensions.Next,out of example analysis of translation selections,the thesis further explores some elements contributing to interpreter's various translation selections.There are two major reasons.Firstly,different dimensions possess different eco-environment,and there are different influencing factors interpreters should deal with.So they need to take an overall consideration on each factor and combine with suitable selections to keep the whole eco-environment harmonious.Secondly,because of these factors in different dimensions,there are different degrees of contradiction between ST and TT.As for this,interpreters need to apply specific solution on each type of contradiction.Moreover,the importance of each selection is not identical.Therefore,interpreters need to balance and apply each selection reasonably based on text type of the source text.On account of the analyses above,some research findings are as follow: Firstly,there are three various types of selection at translation selecting stage.When there is no conflict between source language and target language,translator chooses “maintaining”.When two languages conflict with each other but the conflict can be reconciled,translator needs to choose “coordinating”.When the conflict can't be reconciled,“reconstructing” is the last choice.Good translation lies in translator's specific analysis of these contradictions.Secondly,the relationship of the three selections is progressive,and they co-exist in each dimension.While in these study materials,selections on “maintaining” and “coordinating” occupy large parts of the translations.So it is necessary for the translator to emphasize “maintaining” and“coordinating” without neglecting “reconstructing” while translating.Thirdly,everytranslation selection is not a single part,they are interconnected and overlapped.Translators should choose a proper one depending on different cases during translation.
