The Experimental Research On Mandarin Tone Acquisition Of Chilean College Students

Targeting on the Chilean college students as the research object,the thesis aims to analyze the Chilean students' Chinese tone acquisition with the method of combining sound recording and phonetic experiments.In the word listening and distinguishing experiments.The statistical analysis shows the difficulty order of Chinese tones.For single character,the difficulty order is: second tone>third tone>first tone>forth tone;For double characters,the difficulty order is: second tone>third tone>forth tone>first tone.In the acoustic experiment,first we extracted the base frequency value from the recording sound and normalized them.And the tone acquisition of the Chilean students was described from the two aspects of tone value and tone area.Then we compared them with the standard Chinese tone value and tone area.The study has found out that with single character,Chilean students tend to pronounce the third tone as the second one and the forth tone's area is too limited,etc.and with double characters,Chilean students tend to mispronounce the first tone and the second tone as a falling tone,etc.To tackle those mispronounces,some strategies are given in the last part of this thesis.Hopefully this thesis could facilitate Chinese tone teaching and learning in Chile.
