Targeting on the Filipino students who are Elementary Chinese learners as the research object, starting from the aims to explore the relationship between the listening, identifying and pronunciation by the Filipino students, the thesis is to analyze the Filipino students' tone acquisition of both single character and double character with the method of combining sound recording and phonetic experiments. It is mainly to inspect students' ability of listening and identifying Chinese tones in the output type of word listening and distinguishing experiments.Through the statistical analysis of four tones of the Philippines students, the difficulty order of Chinese tones will be arranged.Compared difficulty order with the results of acoustic experiments, the influence degree of the phonetic input on the phonetic output will be determined. In the acoustic experiment, the base frequency value was extracted and normalized through the way of recording sound; and then the tone acquisition of the Filipino students was systematically described from the three aspects of tone type, tone value and tone area. The study found out that the second or rising tone is the hardest tone to identify, while the first among the four tones is the easiest. By the acoustical experiment, the acquisition of the level tone(first tone)and the falling tone(fourth tone) is relatively better, but they are easily confused between the second tone and the third tone. The result is that the rising tone drops too much, the rising range and the tone domain is insufficient; while the third tone starts too high and turn point locates the near end of the sound and the rise range not sufficient. The study also founds that the difficulty of identifying, in general, is the the difficulty of pronouncing. The input of the tones in the Filipino students affects the output to a great extent. In addition, some strategies to tackle the errors was put forward in the end of the article. I hope the thesis could facilitate the Philippines teaching and studying of Chinese tone.
