While many excellent foreign literary works are constantly introduced into China,the Chinese children's literature works also need to go out.A One-eyed Bird published in April 2017 is a contemporary children's literature work.The novel tells the story about a brave bird named Wa-wa,a boy named A-Meng and a poor one-eyed bird.Wa-wa cared for the disabled boy and saved the poor one-eyed bird.The novel is easy to understand.Its language is very vivid and exquisite,which is very suitable for the children readers.The novel is full of positive energy and suitable for people of all ages.There is no any English translation version so far.The translator chose it as the source text of the Chinese-English translation practice.This report based on the analysis of the linguistic feature of the novel a One-eyed Bird and under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,explores the translation techniques applied in the translation practice from lexical,syntactic and rhetorical levels.The report includes seven parts.The first part is an introduction to this report,including an introduction of the project,research reasons and significance and organizational structure.The second chapter centers on the process of the translation,which includes some preparations before translation,the process of translation and correction and polishing after translation.Chapter three is about literature review.It explains study on foreign children's literature translation and study on Chinese children's literature translation.The fourth part gives an introduction of functional equivalence theory and its application to the translation.The fifth part expounds distinctive features of the source text as children's literature.The sixth part is the main part of the paper.From the lexical,syntactic and rhetorical levels,the paper analyzes a lot of cases in the novel A One-eyed bird and expounds translation techniques in the process of translation and more importantly,the translator combines the theory of functional equivalence with the translation.The last part includes some unsettled problems in the process of translation as well as reflection of the translation practice,making a summary of the whole report.
