This practice study report is a C-E translation on children literature translation. Children literature translation, especially the fairy tale translation, is still a weak field domestically. A large distance still exists compared with the research in the same filed aboard for it has not been given enough attention from translation circles and children literature research area. This practice study report studies and summarizes the translation process and activities of Rock the Wolf, providing some references for the translation of children literature.This practice study report is a translation practice of an excerpt from Rock the Wolf, which is a fairy tale story written by Zheng Yuanjie, who is honored as King of Fairy Tales in China. He is a typical representative of the Chinese fairy tale writer. Rock the Wolf establishes good reputation for Zheng Yuanjie and enjoys prestige at home and abroad on children literature. So the translation practice of this work has certain representative significance.This practice study report is guided by Functional Equivalence Theory of Eugene Nida. First, by comparing the source and the target texts, this practice report analyzes the delivery and deficiency of the cultural information and discusses whether or not the translation could achieve the basic equivalence of the meaning of English and Chinese from three aspects:meaning equivalence, stylistic equivalence and cultural equivalence. And it selects reasonable translation strategies according to the specific problems encountered in the translation process, meanwhile in this process, testing the applicability and practicability of the theory. Finally, summarize the experience and lessons gained in translation, providing some references for fairy tale translation.All in all, it is hoped that through the preliminary exploration of this practice study report, the author could provide some experiences and references for fairy tale translation.
