Santi written by Liu Cixin,a Chinese science fiction writer, has won the 73~rdd Hugo Award, which is regarded as a major breakthrough for Chinese science fiction going to the world for international recognition. It is widely accepted and praised since its publication in America.Being a successfully translated edition from Chinese to English for the first time, its great success is inseparable from Ken Liu's contribution to the translation. This thesis makes a study on The Three-Body Problem from ideological perspective of rewriting theory to probe in factors that influence the whole translating process, including the choice of text to be translated, translation strategies, publication and reader's acceptability. As one of the representatives of School of Manipulation,Lefevere puts translation into ideology and cultural context and conducts a thorough discussion of the close relationship between translation and ideology. It could be concluded that ideological manipulation is reflected in the whole translating process.First of all, social ideology has impact on the choice of texts to be translated.Chinese literature is willing to go abroad with a stronger desire, and the translator is asked to make an adjustment of feminine descriptions to cater to western feminism, and the awareness of environmental issues should also be brought by the whole society as well.Secondly, translator's individual ideology have an important impact on text and translation strategy. To make it readable for western readers,Ken Liu has employed various strategies to deal with specific details like Chinese political expressions,culture-loaded words, fictional contents, characters'name and so forth. Finally, publisher's support, editor's stance and role and readers'horizon of expectation also play a vital role on its publication and acceptance. This thesis makes a careful analysis of The Three-Body Problem under ideology, showing that social ideology, individual ideology and normative ideology do manipulate the whole translating process. And the author hopes that the complexity and difficulty of the translation of Chinese science fiction can be revealed to provide lessons for further translation and communication of Chinese science fiction for facilitating its going out in future faster and better.
