Chinese academia has started research of quantifiers since the 1930's.However,because the verbal quantifiers have obvious disadvantages on the small quantity and the late appearance,the academic researches of noun quantifiers are overwhelming until today.In order to enrich the study of verbal quantifiers and help with the practice of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language,this thesis selected 14 common verbal quantifiers from the HSK grammar handbook and HSK vocabulary list as the research subjects.They are ci(?),bian(?),hui(?),xia(?),tang(?),dun(?),fan(?),zhen(?),yan(?),kou(?),bu(?),quan(?),dao(?)and gunzi(??).We studied the verbal quantifiers from the perspective of syntactic,semantic and pragmatics by using the CCL corpus with the methods of statistical analysis and comparative analysis.This thesis has five chapters in total.The first chapter is the introduction.It explained the significance and value of this study and introduced the current research status of this topic.We also explained the definition and the rules in selecting the qualified verbal quantifiers.The second chapter is about the syntactic functional analysis of verbal quantifiers.Based on the CCL corpus,we sorted the syntactic functions of each verbal quantifier and its four reduplicated forms,and then analyzed with data forms and detailed descriptions.The third chapter is about the semantic feature analysis of verbal quantifiers.Based on the corpus data and Dr.Dafang Guo's verb semantic category,we analyzed the status and rules in verb matching verbal quantifiers,and concluded the unique semantic feature of each verbal quantifiers.The fourth chapter is about the pragmatic competence analysis of verbal quantifiers.We discussed the colors of the vivid images,the colors of the type of writing,and the colors of modality of the 14 verbal quantifiers.The fifth chapter is the summary.We summarized the conclusions and shortcomings of this thesis,and look forward to the further research.We sincerely hope that results of this study would be helpful for the researches andteaching of verbal quantifiers in the future.
