Research On The Image Of "Xiang Xian" In Novels Since The 1990s

The peasant class occupies a dominant position throughout the Chinese history,and the “Xiangxian” image,as a standard category of peasant image,has a rich aesthetic connotation.The opening of culture has brought about another prosperity of literature and art since the 1990 s.Meanwhile,the “Xiangxian” image appeared in novels has more new qualities than the “Xiangshen” image appeared in the former novels.The “Xiangxian” image in the novels since the 1990 s has been integrated in this thesis to fully investigate its unique aesthetic characteristics and the significance of literature history in both culture context and rural reality.In the thesis,the complicated “Xiangxian” images appeared in novels since 1990 s are discussed and classified into four types according to their differences of aesthetic connotation: the image of devotion to the land,the image of shinning moral examples,the image of traditional rural culture heritage and the image of mysterious talents.The second chapter discusses that the reason why writers create different “Xiangxian” images is directly related to the cultural context and the rural reality: the deterioration of the ecological environment made the rural writers began to raise their devotion to land,thus they created the “Xiangxian” image which called for the protection of land;besides,the gradual deterioration of rural ethics made the literary world begin to return to traditional culture and the writers began to absorb the shinning points from the “Xiangxian” image to save the decreasing civilization;in addition,facing the anxiety and the decline of rural culture brought by the deepening process of globalization,writers tried to seek a new way for the rural culture among the multicultural situation by shaping some outstanding traditional rural cultural heritage;in the new century,with increasing demand of “cultivating a group of Xiangxian ” and the lack of rural talents,the traditional talents image has an obvious guiding significance of cultivating contemporary “Xiangxian”.In the third chapter the aesthetic features and the significance of literature history are discussed from the aspects of divinity and personality tension.
