The ultimate goal for interpretation is to communicate. Listening comprehension plays agreat role in it. Failure to grasp the speaker’s intention will lead to misinterpretation. Therefore, listening comprehension is vital to interpreters’ output.In2013Shanghai Forum, the speaker talked about the “toughest year for employment” inChina, introduced German education, and then indicated that China could learn from it.Based on the case, the author analyzes in the thesis that the interpreter’s listeningcomprehension impacts output in three aspects:1) unclear notes;2) unsatisfying delivery;and3) missing logic. To address these problems, the author comes up with some copingstrategies:1) to form better work habits for interpreters;2) to effectively handle on-sitepressure; and3) to be familiar with different styles of speeches. In this thesis, by citing rich experience of senior interpreters and examples of on-siteinterpretation, the author hopes to obtain a clearer idea of her own weakness ininterpretation in order to enhance the quality of output. |
