The text of this translation practice rooted in the Social Sciences book Positive Psychology---the Science of Happiness and Flourishing.It introduces the development of positive psychology and the different factors that influence positive psychology,and how people maintain a positive attitude in life.The text of this report is selected from the first chapter of the book.It mainly introduces the rise of positive psychology and its development in different periods.The intention of this book is to make more readers know the field of positive psychology,and have an active attitude to life.The Social Sciences text is featured by accuracy,preciseness and normalization.In view of these features,the author of this report adopted different strategies to translate the text under the guidance of Skopos theory.During the translation process,the author of this report met some difficulties about appositive clause.In view of the differences between English and Chinese,the sentences structures expressed by the two languages are different,which requires the author of this report to translate based on the expression of the target language habits,cultural background and language background.Thus,it can make the translation fluent and easy for the readers to understand.Therefore,this report will focus on the appositive clauses to discuss.By completing this report,the author of the report learned more about the three principles of skopos theory and sentence pattern transformation strategy,which is important to guide the practices of translation later.In addition,the author of the report also realized the shortcomings in the translation.In the future,the author will continue to learn more and make progress.It is hoped that the experience and lessons learned in this practice will be helpful for future translation.
