This translation report takes biography Shakespeare:The World as a Stage as the case.The original text mainly tells the story of Shakespeare's life and the details of his dramatic works,which includes his family,education level and glory and honor of personal life.Based on the second and third chapters of the translation,this translation report not only reviews the translation process of excerpted texts,but also analyzes the research background of the biographies.At the same time,it summarizes numerous dashes appeared in the translation process and divides them into five cohesive relations.This report is mainly composed of four parts:introduction,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The first part mainly analyzes the nature and writing characteristics of biography in the aspect of task content;secondly,it introduces the task background of biography Shakespeare:The World as a Stage,the main influence and achievement of Bill Bryson.The second part is a summary of the whole translation process,which includes three parts,preparation for translation,implementation of translation and proofreading.The third part is the core part of this report,the translator analyzes and classifies the dashes that appear in the text repeatedly,then concludes them as enumeration relation,adversative relation,supplementary relation,casual relation and interpretation relation,at the same time,the text analyzes the translation strategies and methods of the dash by examples;and the translator summarizes translation strategies for them with four circumstances,which include zero conversion,converting to other punctuations,adding logical connector and adding connector after converting it.The fourth part is conclusion,which can be divided into two kinds of contents,on the one hand,the translator states knowledge and experience gained in the whole process,on the other hand,the translator sums up the unsolved problems and errors in the whole translation process and expresses expectation for the future.
