With the growing development of the economic trade between China and the rest of the world, the translation of the business contracts plays a significant role in the international trade activities.Accurate translation of business contract can not only reduce economic disputes and guarantee smooth trade, but also safeguard both sides interests and create opportunities for future cooperation. At present, the academic community have produced remarkable achievements in contract translation, and carried out further in-depth research, which strongly supports contract translation practice. The analytic subject of this report is the English-Chinese translation of a business contract translated by the author.Based on the functional equivalence theory created by Eugene A.Nida, this report mainly analyses real cases from the lexical level and syntactical level so as to improve translation efficiency and quality of the target text.Eugene A.Nida deems that the priority of translation lies in transferring the information of the source language accurately in terms of lexical level. Therefore, the author tries to provide solutions to problems, such as words confusion and emotional expressions by means of specialized terms, modal verbs as well as conversion.Eugene A.Nida deems that translation must transfer content with original text and the meaning of the original text accurately at syntactic level. The author tries to solve such translation issues as incoherent meaning of sentences,on the basis of analysis of passive voice and long sentence.Besides, the author invites some professional experts to check the target text.In doing so,the author is totally in line with the idea that the priority objective of translation is to transfer the complete information, and the translated text can be fully understood by the readers.Translators should spare no efforts to achieve such objective.
