Abstract/Summary:
From May 20th to 26th,2018,the activity,“2018 Seminar of Renowned African Journalists”,was hosted by the State Council Information Office and was organized by the Education and Training Center of the China International Publishing Group in Liaoning Province.33 Journalists from 9 countries in Africa came to Liaoning Province to visit and study. The author entrusted by the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government to interpret for African Journalists. This thesis is based on the practice report of C-E tourist interpreting in Chaoyang North Pagoda Museum. The practice lasted for one hour, and the participants involved African journalists, museum docent, and the interpreter.During the interpreting practice, the communication barriers caused by different culture are the main problem. Therefore,as a cultural coordinator, the interpreter must coordinate the relationship between the foreigners and the culture, and reduce the intercultural communication barriers to minimum.Under the guidance of the Intercultural Adaptation Theory in intercultural communication, four tactics are provided by the author to handle the three intercultural communication barriers, which include barriers induced by cognitive system, barriers induced by cultural imagery and barriers induced by linguistic structure in C-E tourist interpreting. The four tactics are explanation, transliteration plus Addition, imagery substitution and liberal translation. In the end,the conclusions are made by the author for the interpreting practice. The author hopes it can provide reference for other Chinese-English tourist interpreters.
