The "2018 Seminar of Renowned African Journalists" was hosted by the State Council Information Office and the Education and Training Center of the China International Publishing Group(CIPG).The seminar was composed of 33 media reporters from 9 countries of Africa.Entrusted by the Information Office of Liaoning Provincial People's Government,Shenyang Normal University selected a MTI teacher and four students as interpreters.The author served as the interpreter of the leaders and reporters at the welcoming and closing banquets which were held by the Publicity Department of the Municipal Committee at,the last stop of the trip,Jinzhou City.The interpreting practice lasted for 40 minutes.After the interpreting,the interpreter conducted a simulation interpreting of the promo of Jinzhou City which was broadcasted at the welcoming banquet.Based on this interpreting practice and the simulation interpreting,this practice report explores intercultural communication barriers encountered in the Chinese-English(C-E)consecutive interpreting practice.In accordance with the Intercultural Adaptation Theory,this report analyzes three kinds of communication barriers,vacancy of cultural images,lexical gap,and differences of sentence structure.And four coping tactics are put forward,including omission and simplification,paraphrase,semantic integration and supplement.The author hopes that this practice report will provide reference to further C-E consecutive interpreting in the future.
