Chongqing Private Nankai Middle School was founded in 1936.It was named Chongqing Private Nanyu Middle School at the beginning.When it was first built,it was only a branch of Nankai Series School in Chongqing.After Tianjin Nankai Middle School was occupied by Japanese army,a large number of teachers and students came from Tianjin to work and study in Chongqing Private Nanyu Middle School.In order to reflect the continuation of Nankai series schools,the school was formally renamed as Chongqing Private Nankai Middle School in December 1938 to express its determination to continue running Nankai School.As one of the Nankai series schools,the idea and mode of running Chongqing private Nankai Middle School is greatly influenced by Tianjin Nankai Middle School which has been run before.It has many similarities in many aspects,but it also has its own characteristics as a product of wartime.Chongqing is a mountain city and wartime capital,which is quite different from Tianjin’s geographic situation and economic and political environment.The most distinctive feature of Chongqing private Nankai Middle School is its teaching mode.This paper takes the teaching mode of Chongqing private Nankai middle school during the Anti-Japanese War as the research object,and analyses the formation and development of the teaching mode of Chongqing private Nankai middle school.In terms of curriculum design,the backbone curriculum of Chongqing private Nankai Middle School follows the requirements of the school system.The school attaches importance to students’ learning of the backbone curriculum,as well as the practicability of the curriculum.It has offered practical courses and emphasized practicability in curriculum learning.In terms of teaching methods,the school has excellent teaching management institutions,which make teaching methods run well.It attaches great importance to the management of teachers and students,strictly controls recruitment and enrollment,strictly manages teachers and students after entering the school,and pays attention to the cultivation of students’ independent thinking ability in teaching activities.In the aspect of extracurricular activities,schools attach importance to literary and artistic activities,drama and music activities are more active,schools also attach importance to sports activities.They have achieved good results in extramural sports competitions,and often hold intra-school sports meetings.There are abundant community activities in schools,and community activities and classroom teaching complement each other.Under the guidance of the teaching mode adopted by the school,the school has achieved good results in personnel training.First,the results of the general examination come out in front among the private schools in Sichuan and Chongqing,and second,it has trained a number of talents needed by the society.However,there are still some limitations in the teaching mode of Chongqing private Nankai Middle School.Firstly,the shortage of funds for running a school fails to give full play to the advantages of the teaching mode.Secondly,the war environment is not conducive to the good operation of the teaching mode.By analyzing the teaching mode of Chongqing private Nankai Middle School,this paper summarizes the valuable experience of this teaching mode in order to help the future secondary education.
