Electrical power industry is one of the most important national fundamental industries and key part of public utilities. It is of help to introduce foreign advanced electric power technologies for the development of China's electric power industry. The translation report consists of two parts. The first part is a translation report consisting five chapters.Chapter one is the project introduction including its background and significance.Chapter two introduces the content and linguistic features of the source text.Chapter three describes the translation process, including reading relevant parallel texts and searching related articles in pre-translation preparation, time scheduling in translation process, and translation polishing.Chapter four introduces Reiss' text typology theory and discusses difficulties in the translation process and translation methods adopted in the translation.Guided by Reiss's text typology theory, translator adopts different translation methods, such as amplification, conversion, inversion and division,to transmit the content of source text in full and accurately.Chapter five is a summary of the translation. The second part is the E-C translation practice. The source text is the Chapter 6 of The Power of Change:Innovation for Development and Deployment of Increasingly Clean Electric Power Technologies published by the American national academies press. The material adopted in this task belongs to the informative text and it provides a comprehensive introduction of the development and deployment of the increasingly clean electric power. The informative text aims to transmit information. It values authenticity, accuracy and standard.According to Reiss' text type theory, the translation of informative text should be in "plain prose" without redundancy and with the use of explication when required(Munday,2008:75).The translator adopts varied translation methods and techniques to make the main content explicit.Through this translation practice, the translator has obtained information about clean electrical power, accumulated translation experience. In this regard, the translator anticipates that her report would provide certain experience for translators who intend to translate or study in the clean electric energy.
