Taboo culture is a very important part of each national culture,and it is also a special part of cross-cultural communication that needs attention.Cross-cultural communication contradictions and conflicts abound due to neglect of national cultural taboos.Therefore,the study of taboo culture is a very important and urgent subject in the field of cross-cultural communication,and it is also a very interesting subject.This paper selects A Comparative Research on Taboos of Important Festivals of Chinese Han and Nigerian Igbo Ethnic Groups as the research object.Understanding the two countries taboos will help in the promotion of cross-cultural communication,and will also help to deepen the mutual understanding between the two countries,and promote friendly relations between the citizens.This paper is aimed at the Confucius Institute students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University who study Chinese in China as the target object.Chapter one first defines taboos and it's functions,and then introduces the main content of taboos in Spring Festival through the aspect of food,behaviour,language,clothing colour,number and so on.In chapter two,in order to deepen the knowledge and influence of Chinese Spring Festival on the students,this paper compares the Chinese Spring Festival and the New Yam Festival.It introduces the New Yam Festival taboos and it's origin.We can find out the similarities of the two ethnic groups through the reverence of gods and ancestors,the pursuit of happiness and peace,and then analyse the differences between the two ethnic groups through food,behaviour,language,clothing colour,number taboos and their cultural connotations.Then the third chapter introduces the current situation of taboo teaching in the Chinese Spring Festival in Confucius Institute of Nnamdi Azikiwe University,and then conducts a questionnaire survey of taboo teaching in the Chinese Spring Festival.Finally,the researcher surveyed 130 students who came to China to study Chinese and studied Chinese culture at the Confucius Institute at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.Through the analysis of these students questionnaires,the researcher thinks it is very necessary to increase the teaching content about the taboo of Spring Festival,also through the survey determine the key points and difficulties of the Spring Festival Taboo teaching,design the case of the Spring Festival taboo culture teaching,and put forward the teaching suggestion of the Spring Festival taboo.This paper also discusses the teaching purposes and methods of different classes such as language class,special culture course,organizational culture activity and self-study.Currently,there is no Spring Festival taboo teaching in Confucius Institute,Nnamdi Azikiwe University,the researcher thinks that the Spring Festival taboo teaching is very important to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,so it is necessary to add.Its content to the teaching.This paper hopes to help people understand the most important festival taboos of the Han and Igbo ethnic group through the taboo teaching of Chinese Spring Festival and the festival taboo differences between the Han Spring festival and the Igbo new yam festival,deepen the mutual understanding of the two cultures,so as to improve cross-cultural communicative competence and avoid communication conflicts.
