The style is of great significance to literary works, and the study of style has always been a hot topic in translation area. The unique style of Lu Xun's critical essays is one of the most important aspects of the literary research. While few scholars have made researches about it.The thesis centers on the transmission of the language style of Lu Xun's critical essays in translated version, which is conducive to the deepening research on the translation of Lu Xun's essays. The thesis is also helpful to enrich the research achievements concerning the study of style and has important value on the spread of Lu Xun's critical essays among English readers.Different scholars have their own definition for the language style of Lu Xun's critical essays, among which the most common and representative definition can only be concluded by sophistication and pungency.Sophistication refers to Mr Lu's profound mastery of language,in terms of the figures of speech and vocabulary.Pungency refers to the sharpness and incisiveness of Lu Xun's language, which is fully embodied in figure of speech and syntax.Based on relevant literature research,Lu Xun's language style is defined as sophistication and pungency in this thesis. The whole thesis is based on stylistic marker theory, which is put forward by professor Liu Miqing, and is going to make a research about the transmission of language style of critical essays from the perspective of lexical markers, syntactic markers and the markers of figures of speech. The thesis mainly chooses 14 critical essays of Chinese literature(1951-1966)as the object of study, making an investigation about the transmission of the language style of sophistication and pungency in translated version from the perspective of qualitative and quantitative study, and finally provides some possible causes of the weakening of the style. The study finds that, there is some slight weakening in the style of sophistication and pungency in English translated version. Some of the markers are missing in target text. For instance,in terms of lexical markers, some of the conjunctive words are omitted in the translated text, and most of commentary adverbs have no corresponding translation in target text.In terms of syntactic markers, rewriting of the orderly sentences is pretty common while the scattered sentences are basically in accordance with the original style. In terms of markers of figures of speech, there is basic reproduction of style for the translation of the marker of irony and personification,as well as the marker of metaphor. The study also finds that, the weakening of the style has its possible reasons. There are some intrinsic grammar differences between Chinese and English and those differences lead to the failure of full reproduction of the original style marker in target text.Besides, every translator has his or her own subjective when doing translation, and personal influence on the translation cannot be ignored. The social background of the translator's time also brings the translator certain pressure.
