Ding Yaokang is the scholar in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty.He is also the poet,the litterateur,the novelist and the dramatist.Ding had created many famous works during his life,the existing poetry include Tingshanting Poetry,Jianggan Poetry,Guishan Poetry,Lufang Poetry,Jiaoqiu Poetry and so on.His legendary works include Huaren Travel,Chisong Story,The West Lake Opera,The Snake(also known as Yang Jisheng Biaozhong Opera).According to Ding Shoucun,the Tien Si during the reign of Tongzhi and the offspring of family Ding,Ding Yaokang had composed thirteen kinds of legend.Besides,there are also other seven kinds of legend such as Legend of Xing Hancha,Legend of Fei Feimeng and Lyrics of Xianrenyou,which were lost.In spite of such prolific works,DingYaokang is not renowned as the scholars of the same time,and most of his works were lost,and the reasons are various.First of all,the society during the Ming and Qing dynasty was full of a lot of civil wars.And then,Ding always used his alias and words that against the royal in his books.What's more,in Ding's late ages,he was slandered by his fellows because of his book Continuing the Golden Lotus and imprisoned.Later,in the fourth year of the emperor Kangxi,he was released because of the announcement of amnesty.This paper is divided into four chapters.The introduction briefly introduces the purpose and significance of the topic and the research review.The first chapter analyzes the influence that social background,life,companies had made to Ding's works,which starts with the life circle of Ding Yaokang and combines the understanding of era background at that time.The second chapter begins with the background of the Ding's four plays,and briefly introduces the content of the play and the problem of version circulation.In this chapter,the author also analyzes and studies the related prescript,inscriptions and word cases,and concludes his ideological transformation through the opera works,which has laid a solid foundation for the later two chapters.The third chapter is the research on the content of of Ding Yaokang's drama,which is mainly divided into three points.1.The dramatis personae of the play is the embodiment and the speaker of Ding;2.Ding resonates with the historical figures in the play;3.A strong sense of karma is transmitted in the play.The fourth chapter is the research on the creative features of Ding's opera,which is divided into six sections: 1.Ding's opera has adistinct war as the background;2.Ding's work is characterized by its single line and double article narrative structure;3.Ding never forgets about the romance even in the boredom;4.Endings are always the happy endings;5.Ding's view of opera;6.The performance of Ding's opera.When countries suffer from misfortune,it's exactly the lucky time to poets.The special time background gave Ding Yaokang the rich soil for creation.In his work,Ding showed his view of opera,thinking and the explanation to social unrest.He is not only a person,the more important thing is that he represents the scholars who are similar to him.Through summarizing Ding Yaokang's whole life,his friends,and the factors affected his creation,the author aims to explore the theme and the characteristic of his drama.Also,the author combines Ding Yaokang's Autobiography Poetry,introductions,his friends and other researches,devoting to find out the original intention and the deep thought of Ding's creations.
