The Research Of Zhejiang Arsenal During The Anti-Japanese War

The military industry was very important for China to fight against enemy during Anti-Japanese War.It is of great significance for the history of Anti-Japanese War and the history of China's modern industry to study the military industry's development and contribution in that war.Zhejiang Arsenal was a local ordnance factory build by Zhejiang provincial government,which was one of the most vital arsenals in Southeast China during the war.In 1938,Zhejiang provincial government that withdrawn to the Jinhua area took advantage of the equipment of factories from Hangzhou,Ningbo,Wenzhou and other places to found Zhejiang Arsenal in the Lishui area where was far away from the battle zone.More than three years later,Zhejiang Arsenal had four branch factories and several accessorial factories(or workshops).Then this factory system was the leading manufacturer in both munitions and civilian goods in Southeast China.In 1942,Zhejiang Arsenal transformed into a common civilian factory because the central authority took over the part of military industrial production,but this firm didn't stop its industrial activities until the war between China and Japan was over.The main contents of this paper are divided into three parts.The first part summaries the development of modern Chinese military industry and expounds the process of establishment of Zhejiang Arsenal.The second part researches the system and production status of Zhejiang Arsenal,and discusses the relationship between this factory and local society.The third part analyses political struggle about Zhejiang Arsenal,and explains the impact of the war on the factory.
