This is a report for translation practice from English to Chinese. The source text of it is selected from What Successful Teachers Do: A Dozen Things to Ensure Student Learning, whose author is Mary Clement,a teaching education specialist from the United States of America. The book consists of twelve chapters, each of which describes a method to ensure students' learning. In this book, the author expounds her teaching theories to the readers through her abundant teaching cases. As a teaching guidebook for new teachers, this book boosts great significance to readers who are interested in taking up teaching positions. In accordance with Peter Newmark's text analysis theory, this book is an informative function text, which is characterized by the authenticity of the content. As a result,it is suitable to adopt communicative translation theory, that is,on the basis of the source text and facts, the translator should regard the readers' language level as the standard, and strive to make the translated version easy to understand. In the process of translation, the translator also uses Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory. When carry on translation, the translator must made an application of equivalence in meaning, not equivalence in form.On the basis of it,the translator uses several translation skills, such as affirmation and negation, unpacking, conversion, amplification and omission, division and shifting, voice transformation, and so on.There are a large number of teaching vocabulary in educational practical text, which will bring great challenges to the translation work. Therefore, the translator should refer to educational dictionaries and other translators' experience, and try his best to exert his creativity on the basis of respecting the original text.
