The material of this simulated simultaneous interpreting report is selected from the lecture given by Professor Mark Schofield, the dean of the Confucius Institute at Edge Hill University during his visit to Chongqing Normal University on December 14,2017.It's about 1 hour and 10 minutes.Based on the teaching ideas from Confucius Institute at Edge Hill University, this lecture deeply interprets the benefit of active learning and the importance of teacher's professional development.Through the contrast of both traditional and modern teaching methods, the indispensable and dominant position of active learning in foreign language teaching is vividly revealed. This report tries to explore the practice of interpretation from a new perspective and propose how to achieve simultaneous interpretation under extreme environments. With the support of the interpretative theory, this report defines the extreme environments into two categories: the subjective extreme environment and the objective extreme environment, and combined with this interpretation practice to verify that simultaneous interpretation under extreme interpretation environment can be achieved through the appropriate application of interpreting method and through the appropriate use of interpretation techniques. This practical report focuses on the extreme environments of interpretation and the different coping techniques under different circumstances: the coping techniques for non-resistance and resilience, and the coping techniques for irreparable information loss. This simulated practice report will provides some reference for interpreters who are engaged in interpreting work under the extreme environments in the future, and also lays the basic foundation for the further exploration of interpreting under extreme environments.
