Applying the methodologies of historical materials and comments,the thesis tries to reveal the criticism conditions of Su Shi's calligraphy in Song,Jin,Yuan and Ming dynasties as well as their different characteristics with the methods of collecting,analyzing,discussing and summarizing the historical criticisms on Su Shi's calligraphy since Northern Song dynasty.Finally the thesis outlines the processes of Su Shi's calligraphy criticism in history.The first part of the thesis is the introduction,which mainly focuses on the research status of Su Shi's calligraphy and the methodologies as well as innovations of the thesis.The first chapter could be divided into two sections,which have a review on the criticisms of Su Shi's calligraphy in Northern and Southern Song dynasties.Section one introduces the criticisms of Su Shi's calligraphy in the Northern Song dynasty.Section two focuses on related criticisms in Southern Song dynasty.Chapter two conveys the criticism in Jin and Yuan dynasties,which is also divided into two sections.Section one reviews on the evaluation,in Jin dynasty.Section two focuses on the related issues in Yuan dynasty.The third chapter,which could be divided into three sections,concentrates on the criticisms of Su Shi's calligraphy in Ming dynasty.Section one reviews on the evaluations in the early Ming dynasty.Section two focuses on related topics in the middle Ming dynasty The third section is the critical study of Su Shi's calligraphy in the late Ming Dynasty.The fourth chapter,which could be divided into three sections,refers to the criticisms of Su Shi's calligraphy in Qing dynasty.Section one reviews on the study of Su's calligraphy criticism in the early Qing Dynasty.Section two focuses on related criticism of Su Shi's calligraphy in the middle of Qing Dynasty.The third section refers to the criticism of Su Shi's calligraphy in the late Qing Dynasty.In the last past,the thesis concludes that although the evaluations on Su Shi's calligraphy present a mixture of praise and denigration in different historical stages,his calligraphy is still an important calligraphic issue in Northern and Southern Song dynasties;meanwhile it also plays a decisive role in the calligraphic criticism history and has a great and far-reaching influence as well.
