In Pursuit of Memory — the Fight Against Alzheimer's is a popular science book about Alzheimer's disease by Joseph Jebelli. As its essence is serious science,it offers touching literary expressions as well.Based on the stylistic features of medical texts and literary texts, this practical report discusses the translation problems and solutions from three dimensions with selected examples with selected examples — vocabulary, sentence and text.At the lexical level, the author thinks that the choice of meaning should be carried out in different domains in combination with context, and that the words involved in medical knowledge should be translated into the translation of medical semantics for the equivalence of information. At the sentence level, the passive sentence often appears in the text, most of them are translated into Chinese with no subject or with a subject when sometimes an active sentence could be a better option. At the textual level, the most characteristic of this practice translation text is both medical text and literary text. While introducing Alzheimer's disease, the author quotes emotional stories of patients and their families. Therefore the book's mixed rigor with tending loving care, and readers feel the humanistic feelings while get to know the disease. To preserve the author's unique writing style, the translator adopts the translation methods of particularization, equalization and generalization under the guidance of Functional Equivalence and Rivalry Theory. The study involves the translation of both medical texts and the translation of literary texts, and the theories and strategies concerned are also applicable to the translation of similar literatures,as well as the specific translation methods of words, sentences and chapters, which can also provide empirical reference for other types of translation.
